Day 1AIRPORT – COLOMBO/NEGOMBO

Arrival and welcome at the airport. Transfer to hotel and check-in.

Day 2COLOMBO/NEGOMBO – CULTURAL TRIANGLE

Breakfast at the Hotel. Do a brief city tour of Colombo (for customers accommodated in Colombo) and Negombo (for customers accommodated on Negombo) and thereafter proceed to cultural triangle. Colombo, the throbbing metropolis, located in the west is not only the country’s commercial capital, but also the turbine that impels above 50% of the national GDP flanking Colombo’s fancy urban development effort. Drive along the clean streets edging the crystal white Waters. Racecourse horse racing hub in 1893 & World War II airstrip furnished today with lavish clothing, food & tea boutiques. Negombo, the cinnamon hub of the Colonization of Dutch offers some of the most exiting diving stretches in the country. With quite a pleasant beach and lagoon. Watch how Negombo dishes out some of the best lobsters, prawns and crabs found in the country. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3CULTURAL TRIANGLE

Breakfast at the Hotel. Proceed to Sigiriya and climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Thereafter continue to Polonnaruwa for sightseeing. Esna Holidays Beyond Expectations. Sigiriya, the 5th century rock citadel of King Kasyapa and World Heritage site Sigiriya doesn’t only boasts of ancient Sri Lankan engineering & urban planning supremacy but also acclaims to be one of the finest monuments of art & culture. Surrounded by ramparts & moats the Lion Rock resembling the mythological ‘City of Gods’ is coated by frescoes that relate to Gupta style paintings found in Ajanta caves of India. Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital & crown jewel of King Parakramabahu I, remains superior proof of ancient culture & heritage blended with religious beliefs. Walk across its scattered walls of the World Heritage site blessed by stupas, resting Buddha statues, irrigation canals and fantastically carved Hindu sculptures. Afternoon return to your hotel in Dambulla/Sigiriya via Minneriya. Enroute do a safari at the Minneriya National Park. Spanning over 8,800 hectares, the Minneriya National Park is located alongside the vast manmade Minneriya Rainwater Reservoir. Minneriya offers an amazing sightseeing experience where one may see herds of elephants throughout the year. In October, you will witness the famous gathering of the wild elephants which is the largest known meeting place of wild elephants in the world. The Park is also home to about 160 species of birds, 9 amphibians, 25 reptile species, 26 fish species and more than 78 butterfly species. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4CULTURAL TRIANGLE – KANDY

Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to Dambulla and visit the Cave Temple, dating back to 1st century B.C. Dambulla Rock Temple houses some of the most unique drawings in magnificently constructed 5 cave temples flanking the golden temple of Dambulla. Observe how exquisitely cave paintings are done along walls that shelter 150 statues of Lord Buddha. As you enter the retreat, look straight up to the gigantic Buddha statue glittering in gold over a land, which today houses an important junction in the country’s economic and cultural uplifting. Thereafter proceed to Kandy via Matale. Enroute visit a Spice Garden. Late afternoon sightseeing Kandy including a visit to the temple of the tooth relic. If time permits view a cultural show. Kandy – The last royal capital of Sri Lanka before it was brought under the British rule in 1815, Kandy the World Heritage crafts an array of culture, history and heritage in the minds of visitors across the globe. Experience an ancient Kandyan legacy engraved around its crown jewel, the temple of the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 5KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA

Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to Nuwara Eliya via Peradeniya. Enroute visit the royal botanical gardens in Peradeniya and a tea plantation & tea factory and witness the process of Ceylon tea. Late afternoon, do a city tour of Nuwara Eliya.
